Assignment: A personal AI workflow

Documented, defended, and dated.

Summary

The AI Productivity course assignment: a documented, dated personal workflow.

Key Ideas
  • A workflow is not real until it survives two weeks of use.
  • Naming your own anti-patterns is the most valuable exercise.
Assignment

Design a personal AI workflow covering three of your recurring work tasks (e.g., email triage, research summarization, writing first drafts, code review, meeting prep). For each, document: the exact tools used, the prompt patterns, the verification steps, the ethical disclosures. Track your usage for two weeks. At the end, write a one-page reflection: what improved, what regressed, what discipline you had to add to prevent surrendering judgment.

Deliverables

  • Written workflow document with three tasks fully specified.
  • Two weeks of usage logs (informal notes are fine).
  • One-page reflection on the honest costs and benefits.
  • One anti-pattern noted from your own use.

Rubric

  • Specificity — the workflow is detailed enough for a peer to reproduce.
  • Verification — each task has an explicit verification step.
  • Honesty — the reflection names regressions, not only wins.
  • Discipline — an anti-pattern from your own use is named and addressed.
