Lab
Build a working household budget in three artifacts — balance sheet, monthly cash-flow statement, and twelve-month forecast — and submit them with a two-paragraph memo. A peer will review the submission and return notes within one week.
Deliverables
- — A single workbook containing three tabs: balance sheet, cash flow, forecast.
- — A one-page PDF export of the balance sheet, formatted for reading.
- — A two-paragraph memo naming the largest discretionary category and the change you will make next quarter.
- — A short reflection on which number surprised you most, and why.
Rubric
- — The balance sheet reconciles: assets minus liabilities equals net worth, with no unclassified entries.
- — The cash-flow statement reconciles to actual account movements for the month.
- — The forecast identifies the minimum-balance month and the required reserve floor.
- — The memo names a specific, measurable change, not an aspiration.
- — Peer reviewer's comments are addressed in a revision, if a revision is requested.
