Assignment: Your debt plan

A written plan with dates, amounts, and the rule you will hold.

Assignment

Build a written debt repayment plan for a real household. List every debt with balance, rate, minimum payment, and payoff month under the chosen method. Model both avalanche and snowball. Choose one and defend the choice in a paragraph.

Deliverables

  • A spreadsheet listing every debt with the required columns.
  • Two full amortization schedules — avalanche and snowball — with total interest and payoff month under each.
  • A one-page written plan naming the chosen method, the monthly extra payment, and the expected debt-free date.
  • A paragraph on which method you chose and why, including at least one honest paragraph about the household's history with financial plans.

Rubric

  • Every household debt is listed and accurate.
  • Amortization schedules reconcile — minimum payment, extra payment, and final month all consistent.
  • The chosen method is defended, not assumed.
  • The plan names a specific monthly extra payment the household can actually afford.
  • The reflection engages honestly with past patterns.
